Thrombosis Everywhere

RLE, LLE, LUE thrombosis in pregnancy.  The risk of thrombosis in pregnancy increases by 5-50x. 

HIT is an important diagnosis to consider when there is a drop in plt’s by 30%-50% while on heparin.   When considering HIT use the 4T score to help risk stratify the patient. 

The 4T score is low (0-3 points), intermediate (4-5 points), high (6-8 points). Send enzyme immunoassay looking for the presence of antiplatelet factor 4 (PF4)/heparin antibodies if the 4T score is intermediate or high.
