Meningitis

This week we talked about a very interesting case of MSSA meningitis.

  1.  Staph Aureus makes up less than 5% of all meningitis cases and is usually associated with bacteremia, a CNS device or neurosurgery.

  2. Treatment of bacterial meningitis includes dexamethasone, however this should only be continued if strep pneumonia is the causative bacteria.
