For Thursday's conference, we changed up the usual style and engaged in a "P.R.I.C.E." (Pragmatic Reasoning & Iterative Cost Exercise) case competition between OHSU and the VA.
We want to give a HUGE thanks to Dr. Amarprit Bains and Dr. Joel Papak for organizing and running the competition.
How it works: Each team is presented basic information in the case with all other information being requested. The catch is this additional information comes at a cost -- both a time and financial cost. The team who gets to the correct diagnosis at the end of the case AND spends the least amount of money doing so WINS!
This week, we had a case of a 21 yo M with fevers, arthralgias, and pulmonary nodules who eventually was diagnosed with dermatomyositis! The winning team...OHSU side!
