WEEK OF THE WINS!!!!!!!!!! Our OHSU IM Final Four....

Well this was a week for the history books here at IMRESPDX.COM, the premier blog for IM Residency Fans in the Pacific Northwest. Instead of choosing one Win this week outright, since we had SO MANY options to choose from, and to celebrate the fact that it is MARCH, we decided to go with a FINAL FOUR format before revealing the ultimate recipient of this weekly honor.

So, after this busy week of incredible wins for the program, who do you have in your bracket?!

Will the final honor go to.....

We welcomed back two esteemed recent alumni (c/o 2018) to deliver great noon conference lectures to our housestaff. We also held our annual “thank you for being you!” Residency-wide appreciation luncheon to celebrate the end of interview season.

As celebrated last week, Dr. Mansoor and the R2s completed their Workshopping, learning to become experts in teaching topics to other housestaff and med students.

WIN OF THE WEEK: RESIDENTS AS TEACHERS!

Educating the next generation of our colleagues!

Educating the next generation of our colleagues!

Several of our second-year residents volunteered their time to lead an incredible session for the graduating 4th year med students’ “Intern Year Boot Camp” on “Surviving and Thriving on Nights”!

Organized by Dr. James Kornfield, their sessions on supplemental oxygenation, inpatient pain management, capacity, and delirium among others were extremely well received and hopefully our medicine program can continue this tradition of educating our next set of colleagues!

Your committment to education and assistance to our med students makes you the Win of the Week!

WIN OF THE WEEK: IMRC ACTIVITIES!

Our IMRC has been hard at work this year working to represent resident interests and needs. In addition, they have taken on a huge role in the social and volunteer missions of our residency, planning activities such as the Tofurkey Bowl, and planning many volunteer events!

They have an upcoming event -- the SW Hope "Feed the Hungry" 5K on Saturday, April 6th. Register to run under the "OHSU Internal Medicine" team @  https://www.swhope5k.com/registration/ or sign up to volunteer at https://www.swhope5k.com/volunteer/.

Also be on the look out for emails about upcoming volunteer and Happy Hour events. We will be placing another order for OHSU IM shell jackets around June for the upcoming year!

WIN OF THE WEEK: INTERN SKIP DAY!!!!!!!

Interns soaking up Portland life!

Interns soaking up Portland life!

On Monday February 4th, the OHSU IM Interns were surprised with an annual tradition: INTERN SKIP DAY! With upper-levels covering all clinical duties, they were treated to a chief-led scavenger hunt and sponsored lunch out and about in the city they call home. Though the day was colder than anticipated (first day of snow!), they managed to soak up the sights and found a lot of time for team bonding!

How did they get on the ice??? also, we are no longer allowed near the Benson Hotel.

Congratulations to everyone who helped pull off an incredible interview season!

The 2018-2019 OHSU IM Residency Interview Season is in the books! The last candidates came by to visit our progra on Wednesday 1/23, and were of course wowed by the professionalism and camraderie that our program displays every day.

Many thanks to the countless hours put in by our residents, Education staff, DOM staff, and program leadership to demonstrate to the newest intern candidates what life at OHSU is really about. We are proud to be a part of the program and can't wait to see the results in a few weeks!

Thank you!
